NextGEN Projects

The NextGEN Committee will ensure the future of the Pincus Family Foundation and its mission to invest and partner with organizations in furtherance of the ‘well-being of children’. Being part of the Committee provides an opportunity for the members to learn and become enthusiastic about the Pincus Family Foundation’s mission, while developing their own sense of how philanthropy is defined and implemented. The NextGen reviews LOIs and Grant Applications annually on an ‘invitation only’ basis.


B&G@21C

Boys & Girls Club of Central New Hampshire
Concord, NH

The Boys and Girls Club's mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need the club the most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens. B&G@21C is an after-school program operated in partnership with the Concord School District to address the educational and social-emotional needs of New American students. Members receive English Language Learning-assisted homework help and participate in a variety of activities aimed at strengthening literacy and math skills, as well as promoting positive development and decision making.

Children's Education Programs

Brooklyn Botanic Garden
New York, NY

Brooklyn Botanic Garden (BBG) is an urban botanic garden that connects people to the world of plants, fostering delight and curiosity while inspiring an appreciation and sense of stewardship of the environment. BBG provides a suite of a dozen-plus, nature-based, inquiry-driven, Children's Educational Programs that can be characterized as either self-directed (drop-in) or formal (enrollment required, structured curriculum). In the Garden, in its community, and well beyond, BBG inspires people of all ages through the conservation, display, and enjoyment of plants; with educational programs that emphasize learning by doing; and with research focused on understanding and conserving regional plants and plant communities.

Bududa Vocational Academy

Bududa America Foundation
Bududa, Uganda

Bududa Vocational Academy supports marginalized young adults in Bududa, Uganda by teaching them job skills. In addition to supporting the Bududa Vocational Academy, Bududa America Foundation supports impoverished orphans through the Children of Bududa program, and provides small business loans to women experiencing poverty through the Bududa Women's Development Group.

Violence Prevention/Mentorship Program

Gangstas Making Astronomical Community Changes

Gangstas Making Astronomical Community Changes (G-MACC) leads a yearlong program aimed at working with at risk high school students to mentor, teach peer mediation skills, health and wellness and workforce initiatives. G-MACC is committed to making positive change by reaching out to residents of all ages in communities ravaged by gun violence and gang activity. By providing tools and resources to young and old alike, G-MACC helps people reflect, learn, act and evolve to embrace the healthy, caring, stable individual within, and to transform the surrounding community through positivity and activism.

Next Generation Academy

Generation Hope surrounds motivated teen parents and their children with the mentors, emotional support, and financial resources that they need to thrive in college and kindergarten, thereby driving a two-generation solution to poverty. The Next Generation Academy provides children of Generation Hope's Scholars with numerous resources including but not limited to monthly home visits, developmental and social-emotional screenings, mental health support for parent and child, and access to high-quality child-care.

Expanding Opportunity for Refugee Girls

GirlForward is a community of support dedicated to creating and enhancing opportunities for girls who have been displaced globally by conflict and persecution. GirlForward supports girls in grades 9-12 who are refugees, immigrants, and asylum seekers through Mentoring, Education, and Safe Spaces Programs.

Access to Food Security for Children

Just Food

Just Food works to support community leaders in their efforts to advocate for and increase access to healthy, locally grown food, especially in historically marginalized New York City neighborhoods. With the Pincus Family Foundation's support, Just Food was able to host a youth track at its annual conference. This track provided an opportunity to highlight the successes and skills of youth through intergenerational and youth-led workshops.

Billion Oyster Project

New York Harbor Foundation

Billion Oyster Project is a nonprofit organization on a mission to restore oyster reefs to New York Harbor through public education initiatives. Billion Oyster Project designs STEM curriculum through the lens of oyster restoration for NYC schools, engages Urban Assembly New York Harbor students in hands-on restoration projects, collects discarded oyster shells from 75 New York City restaurants, and engages thousands of volunteers at our headquarters on Governors Island.

Wear Your Values

Remake

Remake is a social justice organization igniting a conscious consumer movement to turn fashion into a force for good. Through education, leadership development, and brand transparency, Remake empowers the community and inspires consumers to buy better, remaking their closets with fashion that respects people and the planet. Since the beginning, Remake has been urging people to think about those who make our clothes with the #WearYourValues campaign.  With the Pincus Family Foundation's support Remake developed an educational toolkit for their Ambassador network.

Trout in the Classroom

Trout Unlimited

Trout in the Classroom (TIC) is a unique, hands-on, STEM focused environmental education program in which students of all ages raise trout, from eggs to fingerlings, for over eight months and then release these fry into watersheds streams in the spring. Trout Unlimited's mission is to conserve, protect, and restore North America's cold-water fisheries and their watersheds.
